Akoestisch ontwerp

In Sweden I took part in an acoustic workshop which was part of our Matter, Space, Structure studio. Equipped with sound recording devices we walked along Göta Älv, Gothenburgs river. Along the way we recorded every sound we heard.

With a group of students we turned these recordings into sound-sense-maps: we translated the sounds into touch, video and poetry. They can be found on the project page.

Having analysed the sounds, we now set about creating architectural structures along the route. They would either enhance the pleasant sounds, or mask the undesirable noises. The result was a set of passive objects to let water, wind and traffic vibrations be converted into sounds.
