Korsvägen railway station

The Korsvägen railway station was a design for a student competion in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2011. The railway reaches the station through tunnels, and the platforms are therefor underground. The platforms were not part of the competition.

At the bottom of the station the trains blaze by. High speeds, people are in a rush. One level up we find cars, trams and bikes. Slower than trains, but still quite fast. On the first floor of the building visitors get the first opportunity to slow down, in the café. But it is at the very roof that they find a green garden where they can relax, and take a break from speed. The upwards facing edges obstruct the view towards the streets, and deflect the direct noise of traffic. Instead one’s view is directed towards the adjacent parks. It offers a change of pace.
